Adega Cooperativa do Cartaxo, CRL

Founded in 1954, this winery has solid roots in the Tejo Wines region where wine production has existed since the 10th century. With a strong network of more than 200 multi-generation family companies, Adega do Cartaxo, currently, has a social area of 800 hectares and annually produces around 10 million liters, with red wines representing around 80% of the production.

Located in the very heart of Portugal, on the right bank of the famous Tejo River and just a short drive from Lisbon, Adega do Cartaxo benefits from this specific and unique terroir, with perfect weather conditions - Mediterranean climate, hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters -  and excellent production zones for our vineyards -  Bairro -  with rich clay and limestone soils (excellent for red grapes like Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Alicante Bouschet, Castelão, Tinta Roriz) and Campo – near the Tejo riverbanks with a moderate climate and well drained soils – (excellent for white grapes as Fernão Pires, Arinto, Tália, Boal de Alicante, Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay).

Genuine, authentic, sophisticated and with a lot of freshness, the wines from Adega do Cartaxo meet the ambitions for which they were created: high quality with recognition from wine lovers and specialists who value the relationship between price and excellence.

In 2019, 76 medals were won in the several national and international competitions. In the beginning of 2020, has already won several awards, including 13 gold medals and 2 silver medals, confirming the quality of its wines. Human and technological resources for a high-quality wine production with only one goal: Environmental sustainability.
